Learn to be Spiritual
There is a global resurgence and emphasis on spirituality for the last two decades. Reasons for this resurgence could be countless of course does not mean that prior to these two decades, there was no spiritual orientation among people. Spiritual and metaphysical subject has attracted sensitive and inquisitive minds since times immemorial. Spirituality is that harbor, where every wavering, confused, and also to some extent sad and defeated mind has found a calming and stable anchor. By nature, humans remain in a state of an enigma when confronted with larger and phenomenological issues of birth, death, karma, and suffering. In our youth when we are drunk with the elixir of super energy, we tend to ignore such existential issues. Gradually experience of life, sometimes turbulent, sometimes sad, sometimes not as smooth and linear as expected spurs humans towards spirituality. Its balming influence, once one is able to clinch spiritual terminology in the right perspective, erases suffering, pain, and confusion to a great extent.
In the past a few decades back, the moral and spiritual discipline of our homes was more regulated and streamlined. Tangentially though, spiritual practices trickled in building our attitudes. The home was such a sanctum sanctorum where elders, reading holy scriptures quietly was a normal practice in every family living jointly. The vibrations were such that inadvertently we picked up habits that made us more pious and spiritually aware. There was a kind of spiritual hold of the elders that automatically infiltrated in our personalities. The youth of today does not feel drawn to spirituality at all. Nuclear families and busy schedules and fast-paced life have made people blind to their spiritual needs. Youth and children are sucked into spiritual vacuum. Later in life, when this spiritually decrepit generation is going to confront the hard realities of life, they will be at sea. This perhaps is also the cause of the increased incidence of depression. In times of crisis, it is only a spiritually aware and enlightened person who can hold on to critical situations. Hence, it is all the more imperative, after the devastating aftermath of COVID and the environmental crisis looming large, that a tour of the spiritual fundamentals need to be undertaken and also practiced by all.
