EVERY INCH OF MY SKIN
Conceived in desire,
I birthed like a broken promise – breech
five elements moulded tender infancy,
fire at the core,
youth melted red hot, spanning decades
melded into an embrace
that consumed every inch of our skins.
My body next to yours waits in the dark
loneliness and desire oozing through each pore
ready, till you remembered to love me more,
as you claim every inch of my skin.
My body will not survive the ravages of time
or my soul wait to rebirth,
nor the promises of an imaginary eternity
keep me waiting and wanting.
I am greedy for you now,
can’t wait for another baptism
to sanctify every inch of my skin.
Your eyes answer the question that burns my guts.
Will there ever be another me? You do love me?
I, your only one, accept life without an answer
knowing you too are trapped
in an orbit of obsession
to possess every inch of my skin.
A door has opened through which we walk,
a path well trodden, a beaten track
of quivering ecstasy in total surrender,
while you turn on your side
and sleep like a child, I wait for sleep
to reclaim every inch of my skin.
Finally, we live a life together,
with a hungriness we share,
older than old now, I leave.
Death makes that choice.
Now I wait for rebirth,
with every inch of my skin
