Together with my Beloved
Tarry, the slayer is there,
“Hidden behind the bush, I swear”
So saying, I pull him back
“Please” I beg cos, I know no other knack
“Fear not”, he tells me so
“He slayeth who doth not courage show
“Truth, my kind mother, I carry
The sword, he thrusts, she would parry.”
Palpitating, I see him part
Fiery-eyed and stony heart
By a ruthless magi possessed was he
To turn away my love and plea.
God forbid the forsaken one!
The celestial bidder who fears none
He, my light, I shan’t ever shun
Frantically after him did I run.
Like a monstrous fire upon a tree
Or a mermaid teen on a shopping spree
With cracked soles and bleeding toes
Leaving trails of untold woes.
My vision blurs and I swoon
Know not I, if it’s a bane or a boon
His visage looms large awhile
My lips crack in an effort to smile
“We’ve made it”, I hear him say
Together, we have found our way.
