Translucence
Darling, your light shines with such brilliance that it is blinding to others
and your intensity so deep that they view you as an anomaly of nature,
a creature so peculiar and terrifying.
Look at yourself from your mother’s heart or your child’s eye or else your dog’s snuggle in the crook of your neck.
Don’t turn into a wreck.
Everyone loves you from the gentility of your gaze to the scars you raise,
digging those nails in your concealed fists,
even as they mercilessly break your wide-eyed innocent heart.
Simply rub poems of hope in the cracks,
to nurse it back to tranquil harmony.
Protect it from the tides that curl the blood in your veins.
So what if they left you on the edge of the precipice, alone and barely alive,
half hoping you would jump into a mad oblivion. Don’t.
Just come home to yourself.
Sit at your window sill and sing softly far and wide into the night’s blue translucence.
The ones who are meant for you will hear your voice from across the given frequencies,
effortlessly coverIng the distance towards you.
